Plastic Bumper Repair
Today’s models feature plastic bumpers, which can often be repaired in a timely manner. Plastic bumpers usually exist in two types of variations; thermoplastic and thermoset.
Thermoplastic Bumpers
Thermoplastic bumpers are constructed by melting small pieces of plastic pellets and then injecting the plastic into a bumper mold. This form of bumper construction tends to be more easy to use as it is flexible, cost-effective, and recyclable. For this reason, many of the bumpers on the road today are made this way.
Thermoset Bumpers
Thermoset bumpers are constructed by injecting two different polymers together into a mold. Bumpers made this way tend to be more durable, but also more intensive to repair correctly.
Replace vs. Repair: What's The Difference?
